Anchor links are a great way to organize the content of your page, allowing users to quickly navigate to the section they’re interested in without scrolling through all the content. This article will discuss how to make anchor links using Elementor.
What are anchor links?
Anchor links allow you to jump from one part of a page to another without reloading. This is ideal for long articles where visitors may need quick access to certain sections.
Advantages of anchor links in Elementor
- Improving User Experience: Visitors don’t waste time scrolling, quickly moving to the needed information.
- SEO: Proper use of anchor links can improve your content’s structure, positively affecting SEO.
Adding an anchor to a section or element on the site
Before creating the anchor link itself, we need to add an anchor to a specific section on your site.
- Select the container or widget to which you want to add an anchor.
- In the “Advanced” tab (gear icon), find the “CSS ID” field and enter a unique identifier for your anchor. For example, my-anchor.
Anchor link in a button or text editor
Now that you have a section with an anchor, you can create a link that will lead to this section.
- Add a new “Button” or “Text Editor” widget where you want to place the anchor link.
- In the link settings, enter # and your identifier that you used earlier. In our example, it would be #my-anchor.
Anchor link in a WordPress menu
- Go to the WordPress admin panel and select “Appearance” > “Menus”.
- Choose the menu where you want to add an anchor link, or create a new one.
- Click on “Custom Links” in the left column.
- In the URL field, enter # and the identifier of your anchor. For example, #my-anchor.
- In the “Link Text” field, enter the name you want to see in the menu. Click “Add to Menu” and drag the new menu item to where it should be.
Testing the anchor link
After you’ve created the anchor link, make sure it works correctly.
- Click “Preview” in Elementor.
- Try clicking on your anchor link. You should quickly move to the corresponding section.
